Rapid Rehousing
Since 2024, we have been able to house youth ages 18-24 in 21 rural counties through our HUD Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP), Our Rapid Re-Housing program is a specialized initiative designed to address the unique challenges faced by youth experiencing homelessness. Our program aims to provide immediate support and resources to young individuals and families, enabling them to obtain stable housing and achieve self-sufficiency. Central to this program is the adherence to HUD’s Housing First approach, which prioritizes providing youth with permanent housing without preconditions, ensuring that they have a stable foundation from which to rebuild their lives. This inclusivity allows individuals to access housing more easily and focus on their personal growth and stability.
Our Rapid Re-Housing program offers a range of services tailored to meet the specific needs of youth experiencing homelessness. Key components include:
Housing Identification
We help youth in finding and securing appropriate housing options. This involves connecting youth with landlords, helping them understand provisions of their leases that are in their name, and providing guidance on navigating the rental market.
Financial Assistance
Youth receive financial support to help cover housing costs, which may include rental assistance, utility payments, and security deposits. This financial aid is crucial in alleviating the immediate burden on youth and ensuring they can maintain stable housing.
Case Management
Each youth is assigned a dedicated case manager who works closely with them to develop personalized housing plans. Case managers provide ongoing support, helping youth access resources such as employment services, education programs, and mental health support.
Supportive Services
In addition to housing assistance, we offer access to a variety of supportive services. These may include life skills training, budgeting workshops, and counseling services, all aimed at fostering independence and resilience among participants.
Community Engagement
The YHDP Rapid Re-Housing program encourages youth to engage with their communities. This can include participation in social programs, volunteering opportunities, and peer support groups, which help build connections and a sense of belonging.
